Government publishes consultation response on growing low carbon industrial products market

The Government has published the response to its consultation on growing the market for low carbon industrial products.

The consultation sought views on a framework to deliver the guidance, tools and levers to help buyers identify and compare lower carbon industrial products, with an initial focus on the steel, cement, and concrete sectors.

The government response to this consultation sets out decisions and next steps for developing a policy framework to grow the market for low carbon industrial products.

It is hoped that these policies will enable buyers (including public bodies who have substantial purchasing power) to make informed choices through better information on the carbon content of industrial goods. An increased demand signal should drive the growth and mobilisation of ‘green’ investment and ultimately lead to reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

The full outcome can be viewed here.
